After working for so long in different environments, there's this sudden realization which I had today.
Sympathy and concern can be a good quality in a person, yes I agree. But when in a job where you actually have to be physically fit, [Yes, you can stop singing the Madagascar song in your head. I know you are singing it, don't act!] you really have to be able to endure the physical demands of the job.
Being a server means being able to endure hours of standing and walking around, day in day out.
Being a cashier means standing and being able to do accurate things, day in day out.
Comparing the both above, yes I admit being a cashier means you do less. So if you're physically less fit, being a cashier can be a better choice for you.
But then, who have to replace your job as a floor runner? Which includes walking around non-stop for hours? Serving customers and having to provide good service and delight them for hours? Someone who is physically stronger will replace you right?
Now tell me, how is that fair?
Imagine the stronger one is yourself. You got scheduled everyday to do something so physically demanding everyday. I think as the days go by, you're slowly becoming as physically weak as someone who's already physically weak.
It's an unfair world. Yes, sympathy and concern is required and expected of everyone. Nothing is fair, but when you're the victim, it's definitely not a good feeling.
In my own opinion, work is a very realistic thing.
Your job can use up more than half of your day. If you have a 10 hours shift, that's already half of your day eaten up by your job itself. 10 hours working, 2 hours of travel, 6 hrs of sleep, 3 hrs for a day's meals and maybe 3 hrs for yourself to relax. That's it.
If you're constantly demanded in your job, it's very tiring. Both physically and mentally.
Which is why I like being fair.
I will do my best, work my hardest, learn the most out of it so that one day, when I have the power, when I have the authority, I will make sure everyone who work with me will not feel that they're unfairly treated.
When we work, we should all work hard. Not having to give in more just to compromise others.
I'm going to be heartless, but I know everyone will be happy.
I'm sorry about today, I have a temper and I'm not afraid to show it. You're adding fuel to the fire and your overpowering character is suffocating me. Yes, you're position-wise a lot higher than mine, having more experience than I do. I respect you, I definitely do. But sometimes, it's just too much.
I'm human, even I have a patience level which can reach its limit.
